Shillong, September 28, 2025 – Fans were treated to two very different but equally captivating matches in the 1st Meghalaya Women’s State League (MWSL) on Saturday.
In Group A, Pay For Right Football Academy (PFR) delivered a commanding performance, dismantling Lapalang SSCC 11-1 in Shillong. Meghalaya star Nisilia Majaw was unstoppable, netting six goals, including five in the first half alone (10’, 13’P, 33’, 41’, 45’) before adding another in the 72nd minute. She was then given a well-deserved rest for the final 10 minutes.
Her strike partner Makrisha Songthiang added four goals of her own (19’, 43’, 56’P, 58’) and put in an energetic shift throughout the entire match, while PFR captain Aetisha Lytan (67’) also got on the scoresheet. Lapalang SSCC, champions of the Riwar Mihngi Football Association, managed a consolation goal through Shailinda Dkhar (61’) in their debut MWSL match.
PFR, runners-up in the 2024 Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League, have made their title ambitions clear with this emphatic opening-day performance.
Meanwhile, in Group B, the action was much tighter as Mawlum Tyrsad SC staged a spirited comeback to edge Jakrem SC 3-2 in front of their home supporters.
Jakrem, champions from the Mawkyrwat District Sports Association, struck early through Iaphishisha Marbaniang (2’), but Naisha Nongrum equalised for Mawlum Tyrsad just before halftime (45’+1).
The visitors regained the lead in the 50th minute thanks to Chibalsaldei Sangma, but the hosts roared back with goals from Balawanbiang Khongsit (56’) and Ibashemba Khongsit (69’) to seal a thrilling comeback victory.
