COVID-19 positive patient recovered, East Khasi Hills is now orange zone

Shillong May 18: Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district has become orange zone after the lone COVID-19 active positive patient was retested negative on Monday.

“We don’t have active positive cases now, and the last positive patient has tested negative,” deputy chief minister, Prestone Tynsong said on Monday.

He informed that East Khasi Hills district has now become orange zone.

Director of health services (MI), Dr Aman War said that in the case of the lone COVID-19 patient, she was retested after nine days, as she was already in quarantine period when she was found positive on May 9.

A total of 3207 samples have been collected and sent for test till date, and 2883 samples tested negative, and the results for 311 tests are awaited.

On conducting random test of people residing along the international border with Bangladesh, Dr War said that the state health department would take a call on this.

But Tynsong said that if need be, rapid test can be done.

Meanwhile, a total of 6565 stranded persons in different states have reached the state so far.
