CSWO condemns “barbaric act” in Pynthor area

Shillong, Sept 25: The CSWO strongly condemned the “brutal and barbaric act” of the Seng Kynthei Pynthor who have cut the hair of three girls and assaulted them in their area.

A statement issued by CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing, urged the Meghalaya State Commission Women to ensure that the persons responsible be brought to book.

Kharshiing also asked police to make immediate arrest as the act was a clear cognizable crime of serious nature and law should be equal and not applied only for some.

“The act is a clear violation of their (girls) human right, humiliating them and assaulting them with scissor and a baton like hockey stick. No law permits such act and this cannot be allowed to set precedence in the state and they cannot take the law in their own hands,” the CSWO said.

The three girls were harassed on September 14, and the CSWO has filed an FIR in this regard on Sunday.
