CSWO says Government should call HNLC for peace talk

Shillong Aug 14: The CSWO on Tuesday said that the Meghalaya government should call the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) for talk after the outfit has offered to have unconditional peace talk with the government.

“If this is true, the CSWO is of the view that the Government of Meghalaya should call for the peace talk with the HNLC, when they have willingly offered for unconditional peace talk. If politicians sitting in the Assembly were members of this organization, there is no harm in having peace talk with the youth who have joined this group, and now wanted to have a peace talk. Peace has to prevail and terror has to end, and every civilized society longs for peace,” the CSWO said.

The CSWO said that when on pre-Independence day such an offer was made, it would be the duty of the State Government to embrace such a move to bring about peace and ensure that security prevails.
