Shillong Jan 31: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has urged the state government to provide immediate interim compensation to a victim of rape and assault.
In a statement, CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiïng said that it has come to the knowledge of the organisation that a minor girl was thrown at Madanrting on the night of January 29, and the girl was bruised.
There were around four perpetrators.
According to the relatives, the CSWO said that the girl was drugged and she sustained injuries in her arms and legs.
“They had gagged her mouth too. Women are not protected and having no CCTVs in main junctions, criminals get away with it because of no proper security,” the CSWO leader said, while urging the authority to find the culprits immediately, and provide CCTVs in main junctions.
Asking the government to provide immediate interim compensation to the victim to help the family, Kharshiïng said that the family has to buy medicines from outside as there were no medicines in the government hospital where the girl is treated.
