Shillong, Mar 07, 2020: As a state limping back to the normalcy the district administration of East Khasi Hills on Saturday decided to totally lift the curfew in Shillong agglomeration and adjoining areas with effect from 8 March, 5 am.
The curfew was imposed after members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) were attacked on 28 of last month evening after they held a meeting at Ichamati, Shella along the Indo-Bangla border opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 and demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
One KSU member succumbed to injuries in the attack.
The KSU held the meeting at Ichamati and after the meeting, they were attacked by non tribals. While some of them were seriously injured, some received minor injury in the clash.
