Shillong, Sept 30: The State Government through the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Directorate of Information and Public Relations and other State Government Departments along with the Shillong Times and Synod College is organizing various events on the 1st and 2nd October, 2019 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
As part of the commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, various programmes were organised by Synod College at the college last Saturday.
The events included quiz competition, sketching competition, and workshop on the theme, “The danger of hazardous domestic wastes on municipal waste collectors and segregatorsâ€
Exhibition of pictures, stamps, coins, currency notes, books written by Gandhi, books on Gandhi, articles, letters, correspondences, and Khaki exhibition-cum-sale were also organised.
On 2nd October Plogging at Golf Course, Shillong; Cycling Competitions at Mylliem and Polo Parking Lot, Shillong; Awareness and Cleaning Drive of Protected Grove at Laitkroh village; Road Rally on cleanliness to culminate at State Central Library, Shillong; Selfie Booth and Trash Bin Challenge at State Central Library, Shillong; Screening of Films on Mahatma Gandhi at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong and Live Band at Wards Lake, Shillong.
