Shillong, October 9: The Department of Horticulture, Government of Meghalaya, will organize the Autumn Flower Show 2025 tomorrow at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The event is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to promote floriculture, encourage local flower growers, and raise awareness about the importance of horticulture in the state’s economy and environment.
According to officials, the Autumn Flower Show is among the most anticipated events of the year, drawing enthusiastic participation from flower enthusiasts, gardening experts, educational institutions, and the general public. The exhibition will feature a vibrant array of seasonal blooms, including chrysanthemums, dahlias, marigolds, roses, lilies, and various indigenous floral species cultivated across Meghalaya.
The programme will also include competitions in several categories such as best floral arrangement, cut flowers, potted plants, succulent collections, and table decorations, with attractive prizes and certificates to be awarded to the winners.
In addition to the exhibition and competitions, the Department of Horticulture will hold awareness sessions and live demonstrations on sustainable gardening, home-based floriculture, and ornamental plant care. Experts will also share practical tips on nursery management, organic fertilisers, and pest control for flowering plants.
The event is expected to be inaugurated by a senior government official, in the presence of dignitaries, department officers, and members of various horticultural and gardening societies.
Organisers have invited residents of Shillong and nearby areas to visit the flower show and enjoy the beauty of Meghalaya’s floral diversity. The department hopes the event will inspire more citizens to embrace floriculture both as a hobby and as a potential source of livelihood.
