Shillong, Apr 29: The state government has warned stern action against anyone found violating the ongoing lockdown and curfew imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Few days ago, some families from Nongmensong Umkdait, had allegedly defied the curfew and ongoing lockdown by holding a protest against alleged partiality in the distribution of rice in the locality.

On the arrest of 11 persons from Umkdait, deputy chief minister, Prestone Tynsong said that it was not a question of arresting them as they were only picked up and later police let them go back home.

He said, no case has been registered against them.

On violators of the curfew and lockdown and misuse of official vehicle, Tynsong said that the Director General of Police (DGP) has been instructed that all violators are booked as per law.

On a lady who drove a police vehicle, Tynsong said that police have registered a case and the investigation into the case is on.

“No matter big or small, the law will take its own course of action,” he said.
