Nongpoh Dec, 11: The Dorbar Shnong of Diwon has long utilised the DUYA Hall as its community Dorbar Hall, hosting meetings, discussions and various programmes for the welfare of the village. The hall, constructed years ago through the efforts of the Diwon United Youth Association (DUYA)—a collective body formed by four clubs: the Diwon Sports & Cultural Club, Diwon Arm Sports Association, Diwon Cricket Club and Diwon Musical Club—had originally served as a youth-led initiative to benefit the locality.
Over time, as the clubs could no longer continue functioning jointly under the DUYA banner, the responsibility for the hall was handed over to the village authorities. The hall subsequently became the official Dorbar Hall of the village, serving as a central venue for administrative and community activities.
With the passage of time, the structure began to deteriorate, making renovation necessary. After the completion of the repair works, the hall has now been renamed Diwon Auditorium, and at the same time, it has been dedicated in honour of Dr. D.D. Lapang, former MLA of Nongpoh Constituency, in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of the village and the region.
The renovated hall was officially inaugurated today with the installation of a commemorative foundation stone on one of its walls. The ceremony was graced by the current MLA of Nongpoh Constituency, Bah Mayral Born Syiem, in the presence of several district officials including Raja Brahma, Project Director, DRDA; Bah Eric Dkhar, BDO, Umling C&RD Block; Bah R. Kharshilot, Child Development Project Officer; Bah Bishar Tmung, Rangbah Shnong of Diwon; Bah Mathias Syiem, Chairman, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Raid Nongtluh, along with residents of Diwon village.
