Shillong, 16 Nov: Street play on Child Marriage was staged by volunteers and members of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Ampati, at Ampati market on Wednesday. The street play organized by the South West Garo Hills District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the DCPU, Ampati aimed at disseminating awareness on the unlawful and harsh practice of child marriage, its impact on society and punishment provided by the law if and when found guilty.

The street play was witnessed by hundreds of villagers who stopped their weekly shopping to witness the performance.

It may be noted that the DLSA and the DCPU has been organizing various activities on different topics throughout the week at schools and different locations.
