Shillong Aug 16: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team of East Khasi Hills District Superintendent of Police, Claudia Lyngdoh was successful in targeting one supply chain from Manipur and seized of a total of 240.53 grams of heroin, besides arresting five persons including a lady.
Lyngwa on Friday said that in a continuous endeavor to cleanse the streets of Shillong from drug menace, the ANTF team was successful in targeting one supply chain of Khongsai clan from Manipur.
“The the supply network of one Khongsai clan from Manipur was targeted on a tip off. On Independence Day, the ANTF team got the information that few suspected persons from Manipur had come to Shillong and they were staying at Parkash Hotel, Laitumkhrah. Subsequently, a particular room of the hotel was raided as per provisions of NDPS Act, and two accused namely Thangcha Khongsai and one lady, Kimboi Khongsai were found in possession of 12.97 grams of heroin. They accepted the fact they had come to Shillong with a big assignment of drugs,†Lyngwa said.
Lyngwa informed that on the lead of Thangcha Khongsai, the ANTF team raided the house of T. Lalcha Khongsai at Madanrting area.
“Though nothing incriminating was found from T. Lalcha’s possession, but he accepted that he was part of the distribution network of the Khongsai clan,†the SP said.
She also said that on further enquiry, it was found that Lalhningliana Khongsai of Nongthymmai area is also part of this particular module.
“His house was raided and police were able to recover 227.56 gms of heroin from the rented house,†she said.
During the raids, the total seizure of heroin was 240.53 grams.
“Finally, the house of Projangam Khongsai of Madanrting area was raided but nothing incriminating was found in his house. It is to be noted that the consignment of drugs was brought from Manipur to Shillong in a Maruti Car 800 bearing registration number WB 90 7217. Once the accused Thangcha Khongsai and Kimboi Khongsai reached Shillong, the drugs were taken to the house of Paojangam Khongsai where they were divided among other accused,†police said.
Police seized the vehicle and further enquiry is on to ascertain the source of the drug chain and other drug dealers in Shillong area. The case has been registered under section 21(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
