Shillong, Nov 3: Meghalaya enjoyed a productive outing with the bat as guest player Ajay Duhan struck his maiden first-class century and Swastic Chettri registered his maiden fifty on Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy 2025–26 Plate Group match against Bihar in Patna.

Persistent rain had washed out the first two days, but play finally resumed today with Bihar winning the toss and opting to bowl. By stumps, Meghalaya reached 235/4 in 82 overs, all but confirming that the match is headed for a draw.

The visitors had an early setback when in-form batter Arpit Bhatewara, who scored a double century in the previous match, fell for just 1. However, Bamanbha Shangpliang (39 off 149 balls, 4x4s) steadied the innings with a composed knock.

At the other end, Ajay Duhan played with fluency and confidence. The guest professional—now in his second season with Meghalaya—brought up his maiden first-class hundred in style with a six. His impressive innings of 129 off 217 deliveries included 15 fours and 2 sixes. He forged a 119-run stand with Bamanbha for the second wicket and added 111 runs with Swastic Chettri for the fourth.

Young Swastic, playing only his second first-class match, remained unbeaten on 54 off 97 balls (7x4s, 1×6), displaying maturity and composure as he eyes a maiden century on the final day.

The only batter to miss out was Rahul Dalal, who suffered a second consecutive golden duck, repeating his dismissal from the previous match against Sikkim.

With just one day remaining and significant time lost to rain, the contest is headed towards a draw. All eyes will be on Swastic tomorrow as the 23-year-old looks to convert his solid start into a career-defining maiden hundred.
