Shillong, June 06: Disasters and calamities are a consequence of nature’s fury destabilize and disrupt life, which claims lives and impede development.
With an aim to galvanise stakeholders in synergising the unified Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts, Headquarters, Eastern Air Command, IAF host a three-day meet on HADR and practice exercise today at Upper Shillong.
The Indian Air Force invariably is the first choice and is among the ‘first responders’ in its role towards ‘Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) within India, and has on several occasions, reached out to other nations during their hour of crisis.
The main objective of the exercise is to provide a clearer understanding of the scope, role and task including challenges in air operations that need to be understood by all stakeholders for optimal result-oriented efforts of IAF in all HADR missions.
Chief Minister Dr.Mukul Sangma, Senior government officials from Army, Navy, CRPF, BSF, NCC, NSS, IDS, State Secretariat and Police, Deputy Commissioner Shillong, Meghalaya State Disaster Management, National Disaster Management authority, National disaster Relief force are among the participants.
