Eight Legislators Sworn in as Cabinet Ministers in Meghalaya

Shillong, Sept 16, 2025: Eight legislators were sworn in as Cabinet Ministers at a ceremony held today at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Shillong. The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri C.H. Vijayashankar, administered the oath of office and secrecy.

The newly sworn-in Cabinet Ministers are:

Shri Timothy D. Shira – MLA, Resubelpara

Shri Metbah Lyngdoh – MLA, Mairang

Shri Sanbor Shullai – MLA, South Shillong

Shri Lahkmen Rymbui – MLA, Amlarem

Shri Brening A. Sangma – MLA, Dalu

Shri Sosthenes Sohtun – MLA, Jirang

Shri Wailadmiki Shylla – MLA, Jowai

Shri Methodius Dkhar – MLA, Mawshynrut

The portfolios of the newly inducted Ministers will be announced shortly.

Following the swearing-in, Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma addressed the media, explaining that the Cabinet reshuffle was finalized after consultations with coalition partners and senior leaders, with the aim of ensuring balanced regional representation across districts.

He emphasized that special attention was paid to include members from regions such as Ri-Bhoi and West Garo Hills to reflect the aspirations of the people. “Cabinet reshuffles are never simple, but they are necessary to maintain balance, inclusivity, and responsiveness in governance,” the Chief Minister said, expressing confidence that the new Ministers would contribute positively to the state’s development.

He also noted that the mid-term reshuffle presents an opportunity to reset and strengthen governance as the Council of Ministers focuses on the next phase of administrative priorities.

The event was attended by senior political leaders, government officials, and family members of the newly sworn-in Ministers.
