Shillong, Nov 22: A one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) was successfully organised in Ri-Bhoi District by the Branch MSME Development & Facilitation Office (Br. MSME DFO), Shillong, under the Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME, Government of India. The programme was held in collaboration with Friends of Women’s World Banking India (FWWB), a Self-Help Group network supporting women-led enterprises.
The initiative aimed to educate local entrepreneurs on various flagship schemes of the Ministry of MSME and to provide on-the-spot Udyam Registration, enabling participants to easily access government benefits and business support. The outreach reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship in the North Eastern Region.
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Director Shri Prabhat Kumar Singh underscored the importance of formalisation, digital onboarding, and capacity-building for emerging entrepreneurs in Meghalaya. He highlighted key opportunities offered through multiple MSME schemes and stressed that enterprise registration is vital for unlocking credit access, marketing support, and specialised training.
Other officials and resource persons also engaged with participants, encouraging them to focus on skill enhancement, enterprise development, and building locally driven value chains.
The programme witnessed active participation from entrepreneurs, youth, and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the district. Many attendees successfully completed their Udyam Registration during the event and expressed appreciation for the hands-on assistance provided by the Br. MSME DFO, Shillong team.
The Ministry of MSME continues to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the North East through such targeted awareness and facilitation programmes, aimed at empowering local communities and promoting sustainable economic growth.
