Former Congress minister, Irin Lyngdoh leaves party

Shillong, Sept 18: Senior Congress leader and former minister, Irin Lyngdoh has quit the party alleging that she has been “sidelined” by the party.

Lyngdoh resigned as the president of the Mawthadraishan Block Congress Committee (MBCC) was on the same day when veteran leader and former MPCC chief, DD Lapang announced his decision to leave the party.

Lyngdoh said that she had submitted her resignation letter to the president of the West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee on September 13.

Lyngdoh, who has been with the Congress for the past 30 years, was the former legislator from erstwhile Pariong (now Mawthadraishan) constituency. She was also the two-time Congress MDC of the Congress.

The former minister alleged that Congress leaders in West Khasi Hills District have sidelined her even when was still the president of the MBCC.

“They have stopped informing me about meetings convened by the party,” she alleged.

Asked if she has any plan to join other political parties, Lyngdoh said, she would first hold a meeting with her supporters before taking any decision.
