Governor acknowledges tourism potential in West Khasi Hills district

Shillong, Oct 24: Meghalaya Governor, Tathagata Roy on Wednesday acknowledging the tourism potential of West Khasi Hills district and called for promoting and developing rural tourism which can create employment opportunities among the people.

The Governor who visited West Khasi Hills district also compared the dunes in the district with those in Switzerland.

The objective of the visit was to get acquainted with the rich cultural tradition of the state.

“The dunes of West Khasi Hills are so beautiful and resemble the one in Switzerland” the Governor said, while sharing his feelings in a meeting with the District Administration at the Conference Hall in DC office which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, T. Lyngwa.

Acknowledging the tourism potential of the district, the Governor stressed the need to promote and develop rural tourism which can create employment opportunities.

He also said that he really felt in love with the beautiful scenery and landscape of West Khasi Hills in particular, and Meghalaya in general.

The Governor also narrated his close association with the State especially Shillong where he often visited during his childhood days.
