Shillong, Aug 2: Meghalaya Governor, Ganga Prasad and Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday condoled the death of former Meghalaya Governor, Bhishma Narain Singh.
In 1984, Singh was the Governor of Assam and Meghalaya and Chairman of North Eastern Council. He also held additional charge as Governor of Sikkim in 1985 and Arunachal Pradesh in 1987.
“In his death, the nation has lost a respected leader, a distinguished Parliamentarian, an able administrator and a fine gentleman. His numerous contributions will be long remembered by the people,†Prasad said while conveying his condolences to all the family members in the hour of bereavement and prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
The Chief Minister said that he was saddened to hear about the passing way of former Governor and former Union Minister Bishma Narian Singh.
Conveying his condolences and sympathies to his family members, Conrad said that Singh will be remembered for having associated with the establishment of sports infrastructure for holding the IXth Asian Games in New Delhi, and ensuring its completion in record time besides his contribution in signing of the historic Assam Accord between the Central & State Governments and All Assam Student’s Union.
“He will be remembered for his valuable contributions in Meghalaya. I deeply mourn Bishma Narian Singh’s passing away. May the departed soul rest in peace,†Conrad said in the condolence message.
