Shillong, July 8: The state government is contemplating to provide helicopter services in different districts of the state.

Transport minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday said that the government is planning to have a proposal on the need to provide helicopter services by having one helipad in East Khasi Hills district, Jaiñtia Hills and Garo Hills.

“The matter is being discussed and we are trying to move this plan forward and implement the same before the National Games to be held in the state in 2022,” Dhar said.

According to the minister, helicopter service is not only for VIPs, but also to cater to the need of the people including emergencies when there is any disaster.
