Shillong, April 11: Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated today in the city to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman.
This day is observed across India by Hindus. On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Shree shree Hanuman Utsav samiti conducted a procession to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman.
The procession starts from Luckier road, Garikhana to Balaji Mandir in Garikhana. Devotees of Hanuman offer special prayers to the Vanara God.
Lord Hanuman who is a symbol of strength is believed to be an ardent devotee of Lord Ram ,also an integral part of Ramayan where he assisted Lord Ram in various works.
Special food is prepared at temples which are distributed among devotees. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the full-moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Chaitra.
