Shillong, Jun 02: The Hima Mylliem Syiemship has come up with a notification directing all headmen under its jurisdiction to obtain a letter of appointment (Sanad) within a period of 30 days.

“All headman under Mylliem Syiemship’s administrative, territorial, judicial and quasi judicial jurisdiction are directed to obtain the letter of appointment within 30 days,” Acting Syiem Ricky Nelson Syiem said in a notification issued here.

He said that the direction was in pursuant to provision 16 (2) of the “Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Sucession of Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Electors and Rangbah Shnong of Mylliem Syiemship) Act, 2007.

The provision is read with Rule 5 Sub Rule (B) Clause (3) of the Administration of Mylliem Syiemship Rules, 2016.

Meanwhile, the Acting Syiem also warned that any headman contravening the said provisions as laid down under law, their appointment to the post of headman/Rangbah Shnong shall be construed as null and void.
