Shillong, Aug 11: Minister in-charge, Sports and Youth Affairs, and Agriculture, Banteidor Lyngdoh on Saturday inaugurated the Health and Wellness Centre at Jongksha PHC under Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Mawkynrew CR&D Block BDO, L. T Tariang, Director of Health Services (MCH&FW) cum Joint Mission Director, NHM, Meghalaya, Dr. T. S Nongkhlaw, Medical and Health Officer, Dr. P. Kharpran, Headman of Jongksha village, Olet Kharsohnoh and other officials of the Health Department, ASHAs, attended the function.

In his address, Lyngdoh talked about the importance of maintaining health and hygiene and said that material riches are of no value when one is unhealthy.
The Minister also said that no family is happy in the absence of health and wellness.

On the occasion, the Minister called upon all stake holders including civil society and the public to co-operate with the Government by actively participating in its various schemes, programmes and activities.

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana which was launched by the Prime Minister, aims to transform Sub-centres and Primary Health Centres into Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in the country for implementing public health programmes, better comprehensive primary health care service delivery including diseases prevention and health promotion.
