SHILLONG, APR 6: Six-time BJP legislator from Pynthorumkhrah, Alexander Laloo Hek, was conferred the AIMS Democratic Leadership Award 2026 at a function held at the Constitutional Club of India.

The Alliance of Intellectual Minds & Statesmen (AIMS) recognized Hek for his contribution to democratic values and leadership over a nearly three-decade-long political career.

“The award reflects Shri Hek’s exemplary performance as an elected representative of the people,” said a statement issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit on Monday.

The statement noted that the honour underscores Hek’s repeated electoral success and the party’s emphasis on inclusive development.

“AIMS has reaffirmed the leadership qualities of Shri Hek and the administrative values of BJP—values that insist on inclusive development and gaining people’s trust through good governance,” it added.

The party further said that the recognition would inspire its members to work harder towards bringing positive change in the state.
