HFU approaches SBI for funding agri and allied sectors in state

Shillong, Sep 12: Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) president Commander Shangpliang recently met the Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, North East Circle, RS Ramesh for Agri Business Cluster Development in Guwahati SBI Secretariat.

Shangpliang informed that the union is for introducing various business opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors to double the income of the farmers.

“However we could not go ahead in various projects due to fund constraints,” Shangpliang said.

According to the HFU president, the Chief General Manager expressed his willingness to work with farmers of Meghalaya and he had assured the union that funds should not be a problem.

According to Shangpliang, the union in collaboration with the State Bank of India will soon be launching a pilot project in livestock in Meghalaya.

He also urged the State government to increase the budget for agri and allied sectors in the state.
