Shillong May 14: The Hill Farmers Union (HFU) has formed a committee on COVID-19 to help farmers in view of the ongoing lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The committee will also share suggestions to the state government how to help the farmers and come out with a special policy that would benefit the farmers and bring in new technology that can uplift agriculture sector and boost food processing in the state.

HFU president, Commander Shangpliang said that members of the committee comprised of Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation, President of SPIKAP & Federation of Khasi States, CEO of NABARD Foundation, general manager NABARD, Shillong and others.

The HFU has informed the Agriculture minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh on this, who also assured his support.
