Shillong, march 7 : Three civilian was shot under mistaken identity by the Police, who were in search of hardcore criminal William Sangma. After William Sangma gave a slip to the police, the North Garo Hills police adopted every measure to nab the criminal. In this course they also resorted to doing Naka checking. At around 10:30 pm last night, one pickup vehicle gave slip to Police checking at checking point, which contemplated police to ran after that vehicle and shot at the vehicle. Six people were travelling in that pickup vehicle, of which three people sitting at the front seat sustain bullet injury. The three injured were shifted to Guwahati for treatment. While one is said to be critical, other two are normal Now. Remaining three passengers who were travelling in the same vehicle and was seated at back seat sustain normal injury and were treated at Resubelpara. Agitated crowed ghearoed police vehicle and burnt down five vehicles . The incident took place near Resubelpara the district headquarter of North Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, the matter was taken up at the zero hour in the Assembly. Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma assured compensation to the victims as he orders for Judicial enquiry into the matter.
Zero Hour notice was tabled by Shri Nihim D . Shira, MLA, today on matter relating to Resubelpara firing incident. Demanded for Judicial inquiry, Adequate compensation, and irresponsible police personnel be brought to justice. Govt has no choice but to accept the demands as required. Govt has agreed to pay hospital bills etc and give compensation to the victims.
