Shillong Nov 7: The Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) on Wednesday conveyed its condolences to the family members and loved ones of photo journalist and former president of the Union, Warton Lytan who passed away on Tuesday.

In a condolence message, HFU president, Commander Shangpliang termed the demise of Lytan a big loss to the Union and recalled his contributions to uplift farmers in the state and prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and provide strength and comfort to the bereaved family at this moment of grief.

Shangpliang said that in the recent meeting with Lytan, he expressed concern over the plights of farmers and recalled the initiatives of the then state government led by former Chief Minister, late E.K. “The HFU will continue to take up issues concerning the farmers, and will also urge the state government to declare 2019 as the year of farmers and fulfill the wish of Bah Lytan,” Shangpliang said.

Meanwhile the FKJGP Central body also condoled the demise of Lytan and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family. The FKJGP said that Lytan’s contributions have benefitted the community and the state, adding that the press fraternity has lost a pathfinder in his demise.
