Shillong, May 14: The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has lodged a complaint with the Inspector General (IG) Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya frontier over intrusion of Bangladeshis into Indian land for lifting stone, and boulders.

The HNYF pointed out that Dawki area which falls under the BSF outpost Dawki, upto 50 boats of Bangladeshis on a daily basis, are intruding into the Indian land with the sole purpose of lifting stone boulders from Indian Territory.

“These incidences of stone boulders lifting occur under the watchful eyes of the BSF personnel posted in the area who choose to turn blind eyes to the illegal activities of the foreign intruders, inspite of the availability of necessary equipments to counter such illegal activities, including speed boats,” the HNYF said.

According to the HNYF, on May 2 at 2 am, residents of Darrang in Dawki had to take matters into their own hands by chasing away the Bangladeshis boats and apprehended two of their boats. “These Bangladeshis even dared to cross more than 700 meters from the Indo–Bangla border pillar to carry out their illegal activities,” the HNYF said.

HNYF is one of the organizations under the Coordination Committee on International Border (CCIB).

The HNYF urged the BDF Inspector General to take immediate steps to stop such illegal activities by the illegal intruders before the matter goes out of hand as it might come into direct conflict with the locals of the area.
