Shillong, May 08: It is indeed a proud moment for St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School again, when it managed to scored all the 9 top 10th positions in science stream and six positions in commerce stream.
The results of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in science, commerce and vocational streams were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on Monday.
While Lawanaibok Kharphuli of St Anthony’s Hr Sec School secured the first top 10th position in science stream, Kavita Joshi of Seven Set Annexe Hr Sec School topped in commerce stream.
The other toppers in the science stream include Sneha Deb, who secured the 2nd position and Bishai Deb in the 3rd position.
Purnima Paul of Nongthymmai Nepali Hr Sec School, Shillong bagged the 2nd position while Rohit Das of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Hr Sec School, Shillong secured the 3rd positions in commerce stream.
Speaking to reporters, Kharphuli attributed his success to God, his parents and teachers.
Hailing from 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong, Kharphuli (19) wants to become a doctor. According to him, to be successful one must work hard and be true to himself/herself.
Congratulating the students, St Anthony’s principal exclaimed that once again the school’s history has been repeated.
“It is because of the students’ hard work besides the guidance of the teachers and the support of the parents,” he said.
The total pass percentage in science stream was at 76 percent with 2811 out of 3662 students declared as successful while commerce stream recorded a pass percentage of 71.87 percent with 1576 of 2193 students cleared the examination.
Meanwhile in the vocational stream, all 7 candidates cleared the examination.
