Shillong May 3: The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongstoiñ Circle urged the people to end the differences over the recent transfer of deputy commissioner of West Khasi Hills District.

In a statement, HYC Nongstoiñ Circle publicity secretary Ebryan Lyngdoh urged the people to extent full support to the new DC for the betterment and development of the district.

Appreciating good initiatives taken up by former DC Arunkumar Kembhavi in the past 14 months, Lyngdoh however reminded that the West Khasi Hills District is also witnessing the problem of boundary dispute with neighbouring Assam.

He also urged the government to ensure that a deputy commissioner for a sensitive district like West Khasi Hills should be an officer from the indigenous community.

The HYC also expressed concern over the alleged issuing of EPIC card to parents of the former DC from West Khasi Hills District. According to Lyngdoh, the HYC has been demanding from the government to ensure that people from outside the state should vote in their place of their origin.
