Shillong, Mar 5: Sordar of Umwai, Tyngshaiñ Wanwar on Thursday said that a list of over 90 names of attackers allegedly involved in the violence at Ichamati, will be submitted to the police for necessary action.

Wanwar is one among the injured persons in the clash that led to the death of KSU member from Sohra, Lurshai Hynñiewta on February 28.

Wanwar is presently undergoing treatment at Shillong civil hospital.

So far, police said that they have arrested eight persons in connection with the incident.

“We have already prepared a list of over 90 names of people involved in the incident,” Wanwar told reporters after he interacted with leaders of the four pressure groups , who visited him at the hospital.

The groups include Khasi Students Union (KSU), Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) and Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF).

The Sordar said that he would soon file an FIR and submitted the names to the concerned authorities for taking necessary action against the perpetrators of the attack.

Wanwar however said that neither the police nor the magistrate have taken his statement on the incident. He said that he was informed that many of those involved in the incident are fleeing to Assam and Bangladesh.

On the government’s assurance to bear all medical expenses of the injured victims, the Sordar of Umwai however said that the chief minister did visit the hospital and assured that the government would bear the expenses.

“But as of now, we have to buy food and medicines from our own pocket,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wanwar urged the Sordar of Mawlong to convene the Dorbar Hima to discuss on the recent law and order and violence at Ichamati.
