SHILLONG, MAR 24: In a significant boost to youth employment in the region, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, conducted a walk-in campus interview for the position of cabin crew at the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The recruitment drive was organised in collaboration with Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI).

A total of 56 female candidates from across the North East participated in the selection process. Following a rigorous assessment, five candidates were selected—Deilana Shallam, Mahi Sah, Cassandra War, Silveris Mary Lyndem, and Ritika.

This marks the second time the Don Bosco Youth Centre has hosted a direct cabin crew recruitment drive in partnership with ESTI, reflecting growing confidence among industry players in the Centre’s training ecosystem.

The collaboration stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2025, aimed at providing employment-linked professional training and placement opportunities in aviation, hospitality, and international cruise services for educated unemployed youth from Meghalaya and the wider North East.

Notably, this was the fourth campus interview conducted under the MoU, with several more recruitment drives involving national and international companies scheduled in the coming months.

The Don Bosco Youth Centre has emerged as a key hub for youth empowerment and skill development in the region, facilitating job placements for many young people in India and abroad. Its partnership with ESTI continues to strengthen efforts to bridge the gap between education and employment.

Under the initiative, ESTI will continue to provide specialised training at the Centre, equipping candidates with industry-relevant skills and expanding access to employment opportunities in over 20 countries.
