Shillong, Aug 18: Balios Swer, the President of Jaiñtia Coal Miner’s and Dealer’s Association Jaintia Hills, with 50 members joined the BJP on Friday.
Swer was welcomed to the party at a function held at Chiehruphi village in East Jaintia Hills district in the presence of BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh, MDC Violet Lyngdoh, village headman, Doloi of Rymbai elaka and supporters.
His joining came in the wake of the assurance of the BJP to find solution to the coal mining ban imposed by the NGT, if the BJP comes to power in 2018.
Addressing the occasion, Lyngdoh, highlighted the achievements of the BJP-led Government at the Centre in the national and International fronts.
Stating that BJP is strong enough to defeat Congress in the coming election, Lyngdoh said, “The Congress and regional leaders too are feeling insecure. Many of them are praying for a safe passage and are trying to change their jerseys.”
