Shillong, June 21: Nongkrem Block Congress Committee (NBCC) president, John F. Kharshiing has decided to step down from the post.

Kharshiing had unsuccessfully contested the 2018 Assembly elections from Nongkrem held on February 27.

Kharshiing submitted his resignation letter to the NBCC working president, Lambor Nongrum on June 19.

“I have tendered my resignation letter from the post to pave way for the members to further strengthen the NBCC especially ahead of the upcoming elections,” he said in a statement issued here on Thursday.

But Kharshiing said that he has decided to continue as member of the Nongkrem Block Congress Committee.

His decision was conveyed to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee and East Khasi Hills District Congress Committee.
