Shillong, Oct 24: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has assured that land title rights certificates will be issued in a timely manner, even though the KHAD (Regulation and Administration of Land) Act, 2021 does not stipulate a specific timeframe for the process.
Executive Member in charge of Land, Powell Sohkhlet, gave the assurance in response to a question raised by Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdei during the Council session held on Friday.
Sohkhlet emphasized that the department would ensure there are no unnecessary delays in the issuance of land title rights certificates. He stated that all efforts will be made to issue the certificates “at the earliest possible time.”
Meanwhile, the KHADC also passed the KHAD (Administration of Justice) (Amendment) Rules, 2025, aimed at strengthening the Council’s judicial and administrative framework.
