Shillong, Feb 6: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Latiplang Kharkongor on Thursday allotted portfolios to his executive members keeping finance, trade, land, professional tax and others to himself.
This was following the list of four executive members of the newly formed United Democratic Front (UDF) executive committee was approved by the Governor recently in compliance to the High Court order.
They include two Congress MDCs, one National People’s Party (NPP) MDC and one People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MDC.
Lamphrang Blah and Ronnie V Lyngdoh of the Congress were given market and development respectively, while Mitchel Wankhar (NPP) got revenue collection and Macdalyn Sawkmie Mawlong (PDF) will take charge of forest.
The notification issued on Thursday said notwithstanding the above allocation, matters relating to appointment, transfer and posting of officers in all departments shall rest with the CEM.
Furthermore, necessary consultation with the CEM or before the EC should be made in all complicated and important matters in consistent with the collective responsibility of the EC, it said.
It may be mentioned here that the Governor had also approved the name of Grace Mary Kharpuri for the post of deputy CEM. However, Kharpuri decided to decline the offer.
