Shillong, May 29: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Wednesday summoned the Secretary of Hima Nongspung, Michael Warjri with regards to the NOC granted to the Assam government to implement the PMGSY scheme in areas along the inter-state boundary inside Meghalaya.
An agreement was signed between the Secretary of Hima Nongspung and Assam legislator from West Gauhati Constituency, Ramendra Narayan Kalita on July 25, 2016 to implement the PMGSY scheme.
After the hearing, Executive Member in-charge Land, Titosstarwell Chyne said that Warjri admitted that he had granted the NOC in 2016 but the same was cancelled in 2018.
“He (Warjri) also submits that the decision was taken with the knowledge of the Syiem of Hima Nongspung,†Chyne said.
Earlier, the KHADC had also summoned the Syiem of Hima Nongspung, Patrick Syiemiong and sought explanation from. Syiemiong however blamed the secretary for granting the NOC without his knowledge.
Chyne said that both the Syiem and the Secretary will have to appear in the final hearing, the date of which will be decided later.
