Shillong, July 9: The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has expressed strong opposition against the move to enroll new voters from Sweepers’ colony.

In a letter to the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor, KHNAM-State youth wing president, Thomas Passah said that the party was informed that the Election Department has instructed the Booth Level Officer (BLOs) to visit the area vide its letter issued on June 13, for special summary revision.

Stating that the letter addressed to the “Rangbah Shnong” of the Colony, was highly questionable, Passah said, “Rangbah Shnong should be from amongst the indigenous citizen of the state and he should be in possession of Sanat (document of confirmation) from the Hima of Syiem Mylliem.”
