Kirloskar starts pumping out water from coal mine in East Jaiñtia Hills

Shillong Jan 5: The Kirloskar Brothers Limited on Saturday successfully pumped out water from the main shaft of the coal mine that trapped 15 miners and both their pumps were used as part of the operation.

The miners have been trapped since December 13, last year inside the coal mine at Khloo Ryngksan in East Jaiñtia Hills district

The Kirloskar finally and successfully at 3.30pm could start both their pumps and pumped outy the water from the main shaft.

“The water level in this shaft will soon be determined by the Navy divers. The fire service Odisha was also on ready to pump the water. The NRDF personnel are on stand by to help other agencies in the rescue operation.

It was reported that the water level inside the old shaft receded by 1.5 inches, and had pumped out 10 lakh litres of water within ten hours.
