Shillong, Aug. 25: The NSS Unit of Saint Mary’s College, Shillong organised NSS Special Camp with 35 volunteer from 12th – 18th August  at Jyntah Village.

The special camp focused on the village survey, awareness programme, cleaning drive, educational programme, painting, tree plantation, cultural competition etc. As the theme of the camp was “know your village”, various social works in the village and school premises were conducted which gave the NSS Volunteers opportunity to interact with children and village elders.

During the camp , students’ interaction and social connect greatly helped in building a better relationship between the village and the students while learning  important life
skill and training which is not available .

I Kharumnuid and Annette P.Os also apprised about the Independence Day celebration during the camp where school children were felicitated for various competition held during the week in presence of Village Headman, Head Teachers, President SMC and the officials of the Dorbar.

Felicitation programme was coordinated by the NSS volunteer with cultural programme and speech from the village headman and headmistress.
