Shillong Nov 15: Absconded leader of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) from Ri-Bhoi district, Ferdinald Kharkamni has been arrested on Monday.
He was accused of assaulting a police officer and the head constable inside the Umïam police station on October 15.
Since then, police said that Kharkamni, who is the president of KSU Ri-Bhoi district, has been absconding.
His arrest came 34 days.
A statement issued by the Meghalaya Assistant Inspector General of Police, G. K. Iangrai stated that Ri-Bhoi police after strenuous efforts, successfully established the whereabouts of Kharkamni and he was arrested from Nongpoh on Monday.
He is an accused of two cases which were registered at Umïam police station.
Kharkamni was alleged of slapping a police officer and punching a head constable inside the police station on the night of October 15.
“The accused is currently under police custody and investigation of the case is still on,†the police statement said.
