Shillong Jan 28: Police on Monday summoned 10 members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) in connection with an incident where petrol bomb was hurled at the BJP office here.

Accompanied by KSU leaders and members, the activists came to Sadar police station and appeared for questioning before Sub Inspector, MN Sangma who is the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case.

On January 6, miscreants hurled petrol bomb at the BJP office at around 11.20 pm. The petrol bomb was hurled outside the building of the BJP office. No one was injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah alleged that the Union activists were called for questioning without evidences.

Thabah said that such action by police was nothing but harassment and the Union cannot accept such action.

“It is not the first time that members of the Union were asked to appear before police in connection with similar arson cases in the past. Most of the persons arrested in such cases were not KSU members,” Thabah said.

He also said that investigators had told the KSU members who were called for questioning that the incident has been considered a high profile case, since the BJP is part of the ruling MDA government.
