Shillong, May 28: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has strongly opposed the alleged move of the Raid Marwet and Hima Mylliem to sell huge chunk of land to the Border Security Force (BSF).

General secretary of the Union, Donald V Thabah in a statement issued here on Tuesday said as per information received by the central executive committee (CEC), the Raid Marwet and Hima Mylliem have decided to sell a land measuring 1,000 hectares at Lakhra-Beltola for Rs 1,000 crore to the BSF.

“It was also informed that they are planning to sell the land through an agent who is from the Law clan despite the fact that it falls under the jurisdiction of the Hima Sohiong,” Thabah said.

“Therefore, we strongly warned the Raid Marwet and Hima Mylliem to refrain from allowing the BSF to acquire this land,” he added.

The KSU leader further stated that the Union will soon lead a delegation to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to demand action against those involved in trying to sell this land.
