A Book by P Kharshiing on Khasi Philosophy Released

Today marked a significant occasion with the release of the book titled *Ka Saiñ Pyrkhat u Khasi bad ki Dak Thoh ha ka Ktien Khasi*. The ceremony took place at the KHADC auditorium, where Mr. Pyniaid Sing Syiem, the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), was the chief guest. The event attracted a diverse audience, including dignitaries from KHADC, representatives of literary organizations, and members of the general public.

Authored by Mr. Phrikshon Kharshiing, the book delves into Khasi philosophy, exploring various dimensions of the social and cultural traditions of the Khasi community. During his address, Mr. Syiem commended Mr. Kharshiing for his efforts and contributions to preserving and promoting Khasi culture. He also announced the establishment of a dedicated cell within KHADC aimed at fostering research on Khasi culture, along with the creation of a library that will house a wide range of vernacular literature.

In a commitment to further support local literature, Mr. Syiem declared that copies of Mr. Kharshiing’s book would be distributed to all KHADC libraries, including those under the jurisdiction of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).

The introduction to the book was presented by Dr. Ailynti Nongbri, who provided insights into its significance. Mr. Kharshiing also took the opportunity to elaborate on his work, sharing his inspiration and the importance of documenting Khasi traditions.

The event was chaired by Raphael Warjri, with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Cherry Kordor Kharshiing. The gathering was further graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Pynshngaiñ N Syiem, Deputy CEM of KHADC; Lamphrang Blah, Chairman of KHADC; senior legislator Bindo M. Lanong; Mr. Victor Rani, Executive Member in charge of Arts and Culture; and Kitbor W. Nongrum, a founding member of the Khasi Authors Society.

This launch not only celebrates the literary contribution of Mr. Kharshiing but also reinforces the commitment of KHADC to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Khasi people.
