Shillong, Nov 4: Laitkor SC delivered a dominant performance to storm into the semifinals of the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025, defeating Mawten SC 10–1 in the first quarterfinal at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Monday morning.
The rout was led by a stunning hat-trick from the in-form Iaraplang Nongrum (2’, 12’, 44’), supported by braces from Ibashisha Khongwet (49’, 63’) and Inrila-i-dor Khongthaw (55’, 58’). Ideibanrishisha Kharpan (26’) and Ibakordor Wahlang (40’) added one goal each to complete Laitkor’s double-digit tally.
Mawten SC did manage a moment of brilliance, with Lavinia Lyngkhoi scoring a superb long-range goal in the 72nd minute.
Laitkor, representing the Shillong Sports Association, entered the knockout stage as Group A toppers and have now registered their fifth consecutive victory, further cementing their status as favourites in the competition. Mawten, from the Mawkyrwat District Sports Association, had finished fourth in Group B.
Laitkor displayed exceptional ball control, sharp passing, and precise execution throughout the match. Their wing play, especially through the skilful Marbarin Nongrum, proved decisive. Mawten made several attempts to test Laitkor’s defence, but the backline stood firm.
Player of the Match honours went to Iaraplang Nongrum, who continued her outstanding form this season. She received her memento from Meghalaya Football Association Vice-President Cliff Nongrum.
The remaining three quarterfinals will be played tomorrow in a triple-header at the SSA Stadium:
