Shillong, Oct 27: The group stage of the inaugural Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 concluded today, with Laitkor SC finishing at the top of Group A after a 2-1 victory over Pay For Right Football Academy (PFR) at the SSA Stadium, Polo, this morning.
Both Shillong-based sides had gone into the match unbeaten, having won all three of their previous encounters. Laitkor SC, champions of the SSA Women’s League 2024, once again asserted their dominance over PFR, who finished as runners-up in that same competition.

Inrila-i-dor Khongthaw opened the scoring for Laitkor in the 6th minute, before prolific striker Iaraplang Nongrum doubled the lead in the 53rd minute. PFR’s leading scorer Nisilia Majaw reduced the deficit in the 64th minute, but Laitkor held firm to secure the victory and the top spot in the group.
In the penultimate Group A fixture played on Saturday, Attacker’s Youth Club of Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association routed Lapalang SSCC of Riwar Mihngi Football Association 9-0.
Pynibha Rangthaluh starred with a remarkable double hat-trick (14′, 19′, 29′, 70′, 79′, 81′), while B Pyngrope (31′) and Damika Rani (62′, 65′) added to the tally.
Attacker’s finished fourth in the standings, with Lapalang at the bottom in fifth place.With today’s results, the three teams qualifying from Group A for the quarterfinals are Laitkor SC, PFR Football Academy, and Na Rympei FA (Ri-Bhoi DSA).
In Group B, which featured six teams, the four qualifiers are Mawlum Tyrsad SC (Tyrsad Area SA) with 13 points, Jakrem SC (Mawkyrwat DSA) with 12 points, Bright Future SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA) with 7 points, and Mawten SC (Mawkyrwat DSA) with 4 points.
Group C, the smallest with just two teams, saw Diengshynrum SC of East Jaintia Hills DSA top the group with 6 points to advance directly to the knockout stage.
The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) will announce the dates and venue of the knockout rounds in the coming days.
