Shillong, Oct 7: Langsning powered to a commanding 5–0 victory over Nangkiew Irat in their Shillong Premier League 2025 clash at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, here this evening.
Wanshwadame Diengdoh (40’, 52’), Manbhalang Nongmin (84’) and Donlad Diengdoh (90’, 90’+1) found the net in what proved to be a heavy blow to Nangkiew Irat’s title aspirations.
With this emphatic win, Langsning climbed to third place with 14 points, displacing Nangkiew Irat, who dropped to fourth on 13. A victory for Nangkiew would have seen them move to the top of the table ahead of Shillong Lajong and Mawlai (both on 15 points). However, despite an intense first half, their energy faded in the second period as Langsning took complete control.
The contest was fierce early on, with referee Pynskhemhame Mawthoh brandishing five yellow cards in the first half alone.
Nangkiew Irat had a couple of good chances before the breakthrough, with Khangmiki Pale and Himanshu Patil testing Langsning goalkeeper Rajat Paul Lyngdoh, who stood firm.
Langsning’s opener came when a diagonal ball was played towards Wanshwadame, prompting Nangkiew keeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar to rush out. The ball slipped past him, and Wanshwadame, from a tight angle, fired home despite a defender’s attempt to cover.
In the second half, the winger doubled the lead with another precise strike — his first goals of the season, both executed in spectacular fashion.
Langsning then finished the game in ruthless fashion with three goals in the final 10 minutes. Manbhalang Nongmin scored with a long-range effort, after which Surjay was replaced by Akash Thapa. The substitution did little to change the momentum, as Donlad Diengdoh, himself a late substitute, netted twice in quick succession — first rounding the keeper from a through ball, then heading in from a cross.
Rajat Paul Lyngdoh and Lukas Syngkli were standout performers in defence for Langsning, keeping Nangkiew’s forwards at bay during the first 70 minutes.
Even with a 2–0 cushion, Langsning maintained attacking pressure, while Nangkiew Irat faded out. The loss marks the first time in seven matches this season that Nangkiew have failed to score.
Tomorrow’s fixture will shift attention to the bottom of the table, with Mylliem (ninth) taking on Nongrim Hills (tenth) at 4:30 PM in a crucial relegation battle.
