Shillong, Jan 22: Former chief minister and now chief adviser to the Meghalaya government DD Lapang has been appointed as the chairman of the North East Coordination Committee (NECC) of the National People’s Party (NPP).
In his letter to Lapang, NPP national president and chief minister Conrad K Sangma said, “I am happy to inform you that I have appointed you as the chairman of the NECC with immediate effect.”
Lapang had joined the NPP after he decided to quit the opposition Congress as a mark of protest against the party policy of phasing out elderly people. He was the former president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
