Shillong, Oct 21: The Nongtluh Mathan & Marmain Developmental Forum on Tuesday met Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Bah Prestone Tynsong to renew their long-pending demand for the creation of the Umden C&RD Block in Ri-Bhoi District.
The delegation was led by Nongpoh MLA Bah Mayralborn Syiem, accompanied by Bah Arnold Syngkli, Chairman of the Nongtluh Mathan Marmain Development Forum, the Lyngdoh of Raid Mathan, prominent clan elders from Raid Marmain and Raid Nongtluh, as well as several village leaders from the area.
During the meeting, MLA Mayralborn Syiem informed that the Deputy Chief Minister has already directed the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District to examine and take necessary action regarding the demand for the creation of the Umden Block, and to submit a detailed report to the state government at the earliest.
The leaders expressed optimism that the state government would consider their request favourably, noting that the creation of the Umden C&RD Block would bring administrative convenience and developmental benefits to the residents of Raid Mathan, Raid Marmain, and Raid Nongtluh.
